Regardless of what Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks do in the future, everyone will remember the infamous interception by Malcolm Butler in the Super Bowl. Despite the infamy behind the play, Wilson spoke about how Butler's interception has helped him in his career.

“The mindset of being neutral, the mindset of overcoming, the mindset of coming through, the mindset of – I’m not going to let one play define my career was, to be honest, it changed my career,” Wilson said, as transcribed by Barstool Sports. “I think it changed my career for the better in terms of how I overcome obstacles, how I come through situations, how I get ready and be fully prepared. And I think, you know, that was a critical moment.”

As many know, it looked as if Wilson was going to win back-to-back Super Bowls in his first three seasons in the NFL. However, with the ball at the one-yard line against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 49, instead of running the ball with Marshawn Lynch, the Seahawks elected to throw the ball.

Wilson would throw a slant to Ricardo Lockette, only for Butler to jump the pass and intercept the ball. The Patriots would proceed to defeat the Seahawks, handing Seattle a heartbreaking defeat on the biggest stage.

Despite his struggles in recent weeks, Wilson is on track to have arguably the best year of his career. The six-time Pro Bowler has thrown for 3,479 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in the first 12 games of the season.

Even though Wilson could dwell on what happened in the past, he uses Butler's interception as motivation moving forward.
