The Seattle Seahawks were dealt a devastating blow to their secondary in the 22-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals with Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman suffering a season-ending torn Achilles tendon.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Seahawks have moved fast to bring back a familiar face to their secondary ahead of the Week 11 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

Byron Maxwell had originally been a sixth-round pick by the Seahawks in the 2011 NFL Draft and had spent the first four years of his career before signing a six-year, $63 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2015 offseason. He spent just one season with the Eagles before being moved to the Miami Dolphins and was released from the team back in late October.

The 29-year-old has gone through a workout with Seattle on Monday morning prior to re-signing with the team. His addition could be a smooth transition given his familiarity with their defensive identity and game plan.

There is no clarity at this point to determine if he could draw the start in his first game back. Defensive back Jeremy Lane could be in line to take up Sherman's starting spot on the left side that is opposite rookie Shaquill Griffin. If anything, Maxwell's return provides the Dolphins with much-needed depth in the secondary for the second half of the season.
