It goes without saying that the Seattle Seahawks took a huge step back amidst an injury-riddled 2017 season. As a result, there have been questions regarding the uncertain future of Seattle's “Legion of Boom.” Several of its members are either nursing severe injuries or still engaging in talks of a new contract, and speculation of possible trades has emerged.

Whether or not it is assembled in time for the 2018 season, cornerback Shaquill Griffin is confident the ‘L.O.B' will always exist within the Seahawks organization, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk:

“Right now [the Legion of Boom’s future] is kind of in the air, but trust me, the Legion of Boom will never go away,” Griffin said. “The thing is these are the guys who created the Legion of Boom. We all know that. But just because they might not be here or they’re not coming back, the Legion of Boom is not over.

“This is a legacy that they created for young guys to come and take over. Trust me, we’ve got some great younger guys that are ready to compete and are ready to play ball. The Legion of Boom is never going to be over, but of course we want those guys back, because those are the originals.”

It is encouraging to see Griffin's optimism of carrying on the legacy as its newest member. However, the Seahawks secondary has a number of concerns to address before it even becomes a possibility.

Cornerback Richard Sherman is currently nursing an Achilles injury and carries a $13.2 million cap hit next season. That said, there have been rumors swirling about him either being traded or released this offseason.

Meanwhile, it still remains to be seen whether Chancellor will ever play again after the neck injury he suffered last season. Although he has expressed every intention of coming back this year, his status still remains up in the air moving forward.

With Sherman and Chancellor taking care of their serious injuries, Thomas is trying to secure his financial future with a contract extension and he has even threated to holdout from OTA's should it not get done soon.
