Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid have dealt with injuries that have affected their NBA careers, and now their rookie teammate Markelle Fultz is dealing with a similar situation. He has a shoulder injury, but no one really knows how bad it is, or when or if he will be able to return to action.

At All-Star Weekend, Simmons was asked about Fultz and his injury by Chris Mannix of Yahoo! Sports:

When asked about Fultz, Simmons had a few interesting answers:

“It's tough the position he is in. He's so young coming into the NBA and then having this injury. He's in a good position though where he's staying focused and working hard. I see him every day trying to get to where he was, and he's going to do that.”

When asked if it was mental or a physical thing for Fultz, Simmons didn't shoot down the fact that it could be mental.

“It could be physical, it could be mental. I'm not too sure about the details, but I know he's working hard everyday…on the floor even in practice he is an amazing player. I hate guarding him because he's so good at getting to the rim.”

It's really interesting that Simmons didn't deny the fact that it could be more mental than physical. Simmons obviously knows more than he is leading on, so it's kind of surprising he's not sticking up for his teammate by saying that mentally he is fine.

For Fultz, there is no timetable on his return, and it sounds more and more like he will miss this entire season.
