The Chicago Sky are amid an exciting new era as they start the 2024 WNBA season. After dropping their first game against the Dallas Wings, Chicago won their second Week 1 rematch for their first win of the season. Furthermore, the Sky are making their home debut at Wintrust Arena on May 25th against the Connecticut Sun. The organization has major plans for in-person fans throughout the year.

Chicago released a list of fun theme nights and promotional giveaways which included over a dozen home game events, the team announced on Monday. First, the Sky will have several new DJs to join DJ Malik Shabazz at Wintrust Arena. They include DJ Tat Taylor, DJ Squeeze, DJ Boy Wonder, and DJ Nosike.

In addition, the team is hosting several themed events and activities. Below are a few notable ones to start the season, per Sky PR.

Sky theme nights and promotions 

SUMMERTIME CHI — Presented by University of Chicago Medicine: “To tip off the 2024 season, the Sky will host their season home opener against the Connecticut Sun with a ‘Summertime Chi' theme presented by the University of Chicago Medicine on Saturday, May 25 at 7 p.m. CST at Wintrust Arena. Fans in attendance will take home a Chicago Sky 2024 Nike Rebel Edition jersey-shaped rally towel.”

HALFTIME PERFORMER — LUPE FIASCO: “Chicago-born, Grammy award-winning hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco will be the halftime performer for Saturday’s game. Over the span of his illustrious career, he has been nominated for twelve Grammys, thirteen BET Hip Hop Awards, and four NAACP Image Awards. He became famous in 2006 with the success of his debut album, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor. In 2011, his song “Show Goes On” on the album Lasers charted at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.”

JUNETEENTH — Presented by Crown Royal: “Chicago will host Indiana on Sunday, June 23 at 5 p.m. CST, where fans will receive a specially designed Juneteenth T-shirt to celebrate freedom for Black Americans and celebrate Black History in America. The FieldCrest School of Performing Arts, a youth performing arts center located in Chicago’s south suburbs, will be performing at halftime.”

PRIDE NIGHT — Presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois: “On Thursday, June 27 at 6 p.m. against the Las Vegas Aces, fans in attendance will receive a bucket hat celebrating LGBTQ+ inclusion and allyship. Pride-related fan engagement activities will also take place on the Concourse.”

Other home game theme nights include Gaming, Sports Matter, Mental Health Awareness Night, Health and Wellness, Urban Health Initiative Night, Celebrate Women and Girls Night, Sneakerhead Night, Marvel Super Hero™ Night, Hoops for Troops Night, and Hispanic Heritage Night/Fan Appreciation Night.

Sky start 2024 WNBA home campaign with major buzz

Chicago's roster is filled with depth and emerging star power. The Sky have 2024 lottery picks Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. In addition, the team possesses hefty scorers in Marina Mabrey, Dana Evans, and Diamond DeShields. Moreover, Elizabeth Williams and Chennedy Carter provide some of the best backup support in the league.
