It's been messy for the Oklahoma Sooners after Lincoln Riley left the team for the head coaching job for the USC Trojans. Brent Venables takes over as Oklahoma's new head coach and is already making moves that should please the fan base and students.

According to 247 Sports, Venables has officially secured his first pledge, as quarterback Nick Evers has committed to Oklahoma. This is massive news for the Sooners, as this is a great first step to move on from, and forget, Lincoln Riley.

Evers had a chance to speak with 247 Sports about his experience visiting the campus and meeting Venables and the Sooners coaching staff.

“Coach Venebles, Coach Lebby, and the rest of the staff made us feel welcomed from the jump! The facilities, the campus, and the people were awesome! You can tell why they have been so successful.”

The Oklahoma Sooners are a prestigious football program. Even though this team took a hit losing their head coach, Oklahoma still has everything a football player would want to enjoy his college experience. Furthermore, Evers had a chance to see the practice field as well.

“We got a chance to watch a little bit of practice, so it made it easy envision yourself grinding with these dudes! It was really cool to see Bob Stoops there and how he ran things too!”

It shoulds like it was a great trip for the young student-athlete. According to 247 Sports, Evers is a highly sought-after prospect, as he is “the nation's No. 8 quarterback and No. 123 prospect overall.” It's safe to say, the Sooners are back in business with Brent Venables in command.
