The Los Angeles Sparks take on the Atlanta Dream. Our WNBA odds series has our Sparks Dream prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Sparks Dream.

The Los Angeles Sparks are getting better. They aren't always winning games, but you can see that this team is learning as it goes along. It's a young and unproven team, but the young players are finding their footing. The Sparks are becoming an uncomfortable opponent to play — not a strong or superior team, but a team which will make it difficult to beat them.

The Sparks beat the Las Vegas Aces a week ago after trailing by 15 points. That took some doing. This past Friday, the Sparks gained a double-digit lead over the Lynx on the road in Minnesota. They still led by five points at halftime. They trailed by only one possession in the final minute but fell just short against a really good team. The Sparks lost to the Lynx by 24 points earlier in the season. By losing 81-76 in this rematch, Los Angeles improved by 19 points. They didn't get the win, but the Sparks showed that they are learning lessons from the rough times they faced earlier in the season. This evolution is bound to have more interruptions and periods of adversity, but the Sparks are clearly a far better team than they were two to three weeks ago. If the Sparks continue to grow, they will enter the 2025 season thinking they can become a legitimately good WNBA team. That process won't happen all at once, but it seems to have gotten off the ground.

The Atlanta Dream, in contrast to the Sparks, seem to be regressing. They were outclassed by the Indiana Fever a few days after getting blown out at home by the Washington Mystics, a result which gave Washington its first win of the WNBA season. It's hard to believe that the Dream beat the Las Vegas Aces at home a few weeks ago. That team has not been seen in recent games. The Dream looked like a playoff team in late May. Now they're in the middle of a desperate battle for one of the last WNBA playoff spots. This is a game Atlanta needs to win if it wants to consider itself playoff-worthy. It's only June 16, but some games during a long season matter more than most. This feels like just such a game for the Dream.

Why The Sparks Could Cover The Spread

The Sparks are playing better. The Dream are playing poorly. The Sparks, despite playing far better basketball than the Dream over the past few weeks, are getting 4.5 points. This seems like a game in which the spread should be 1 or 1.5 points, basically a pick 'em. Either the Dream are getting too much respect or the Sparks are getting no respect at all.

Why The Dream Could Cover The Spread

The Dream have been living through a nightmare. Everyone on this team knows the past few weeks have been unacceptable. You should see a fierce, strong, authoritative performance from Atlanta, and a level of play which will enable the Dream to cover the spread.

Final Sparks-Dream Prediction & Pick

The Sparks are getting better, but they're not being given any respect at all in this spread. Take Los Angeles.

Final Sparks-Dream Prediction & Pick: Sparks +4.5
