As the legendary San Antonio Spurs Big 3 era finally comes to a close, the league looks forward and ushers in the age of DeMar DeRozan. Part of the All-star swap that moved former Spurs star Kawhi Leonard to the Raptors, DeRozan's Texas arrival was full of mixed emotions, most of them coming from himself being a bit blindsided by the series of events. Moreover, being a Raptor since day one of his career has did not cushion the blow of the recent trade.

Although it seems like it is water under the bridge, the now-Spurs shooting guard is opening a new chapter in his career.

According to Maddy Skye of San Antonio Express-News, a video was seen with DeRozan answering questions on media day.

With the ball rolling in the NBA and the season on its way, regarding his trade from Toronto he was asked if the official day of revenge started now, he replied:

I wouldn't call it revenge… I'm gonna call it a new challenge…

When asked about the sucker-punch trade that sent him to the Spurs and how the shock affected him, he added:

It was tough. I'd be lying if I can say it wasn't tough. Definitely tough it was one of the things that kinda threw me off for about two weeks…

He ended by saying:

Once I got past that, its been smooth ever since.

A calm and collected DeMar DeRozan might be the best kind of DeRozan that the Spurs will need coming into the season. If this kind of outlook and positivity rubs off on this team, there might be a good possibility of surprises headed our way courtesy of the Spurs.
