The San Antonio Spurs have hit the reset button after trading away All-Star Dejounte Murray. But that doesn't mean the cupboard is empty with young talent. Case in point, the team just locked up one of their young studs in emerging wing Keldon Johnson to a long-term extension.

The news was reported by The Athletic's Shams Charania via Johnson's agents:

San Antonio Spurs forward Keldon Johnson has agreed to a four-year, $80 million contract extension, Klutch Sports’ CEO Rich Paul and agent Lucas Newton tell The Athletic.

Keldon Johnson has grown in each year he's been in the league. He upped his scoring average from 9.1 in his rookie season all the way to 17.0 in his third season while maintaining high efficiency numbers with a 46.6 percent clip from the field and 39.8 percent from the three-point line.

He's also shown himself to be an above average rebounder for his position, averaging 5.8 boards per contest throughout his career.

The challenge will be for Keldon to be able to take on a larger role in the offense after losing the team's primary playmaker in Dejounte Murray. With the lengthy extension that locks Johnson up until 2027, the Spurs are betting he can take on the challenge.
