A sad day for fans of the Knights of the Old Republic series. Two of the most integral pieces in the series' development will no longer work on the upcoming KOTOR project as both EA and BioWare will no longer offer their services.

According to the reports from Video Game Chronicles, the upcoming KOTOR game will be developed by a mysterious studio. The news regarding the departure of EA and BioWare came from a trusted Star Wars insider source named Bespin Bulletin. He mentioned his findings on B.O.B. podcast.

“Amongst my digging, I heard there is a Knights of the Old Republic project in development somewhere,” Bespin Bulletin said. “I talked to a couple of people, and I also found out that Jason Schreier said that it’s not with EA, and we’ll ‘never guess’ who the studio is that’s making this game.”

Besides the KOTOR announcement, Bespin likewise mentioned that a new bounty hunter game is currently being developed and that EA is involved in another project.

“I don’t know if the bounty hunter game is with them or if it’s with Ubisoft. But yeah, EA is working on stuff and there’s another unannounced [Star Wars] game at EA, which I have no idea what it is. I don’t think it’s Battlefront 3.”

It will be interesting to see how the upcoming KOTOR game will develop. Both EA and BioWare were lauded for producing the best games of the franchise and their decision to step down from the project will put a lot of pressure on their successors.
