Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell has added to his enigma. After recently discovering the powers of tweeting with upside down letters, Bell has now turned to another social media stunt that is getting another wave of attention.

As noticed by Joe Rutter of TribLive.com, Bell’s Twitter bio no longer features the Pittsburgh Steelers’ name.

It’s been clear for a long time that Le’Veon Bell and the Steelers are not on the same page. Bell wants a longer and more lucrative contract, while the Steelers only have a one-year franchise tag tender for the tailback.

That franchise tag offer is worth $14.544 million, but Bell has refused to put ink on it, instead choosing to hold out for at least the first 10 weeks of the season.

There were rumors that Bell would finally show up in Pittsburgh and join the Steelers this week after suggesting that he’s leaving Miami, where he spent most of his time during his holdout, but it’s growing apparent that he has no plans of playing at all this season, thanks to a loophole that his agent reportedly just discovered.

The deadline for Bell to sign the franchise tag tender is on Nov. 13. He’ll be deemed ineligible to play this season if he fails to do so by that date.

Also, by letting the deadline pass without taking any action on the Steelers’ franchise tag offer, Bell could be designated by Pittsburgh as a third-year franchise player in 2019. However, it would cost the Steelers quarterback money or roughly $25 million to keep Bell under those circumstances. With James Conner playing well and the Steelers unlikely to cough up that amount, Bell is essentially looking forward to becoming a free agent next year.
