Hayao Miyazaki is the Tom Brady of filmmakers. The Studio Ghibli director is not only the greatest of all time, but he has un-retired a number of times now with the latest update.

Speaking on the red carpet at TIFF for The Boy and the Heron — the latest Studio Ghibli film — VP of the studio, Junichi Nishioka, revealed that this won't be Miyazaki's last film.

According to Eli Glasner, who was on the Boy and the Heron red carpet, Nishioka said that Miyazaki has already come into the office with new ideas.

This is an interesting development. The Wind Rises, Miyazaki's 2013 film, was billed as his last. A decade later, he made The Boy and the Heron for Studio Ghibli. Given his age, one would assume that the 82-year-old Miyazaki would want to call it quits soon.

But you won't find fans of Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki complaining.

Hayao Miyazaki is one of the greatest filmmakers ever. His animated features with Studio Ghibli have become the standard for the medium. From My Neighbor Totoro to Spirited Away, Miyazaki has done it all.

The Boy and the Heron follows a young boy who discovers an abandoned building. This leads him to a fantastical world that features a talking grey heron. The film was released in Japan on July 14. GKIDS acquired the domestic distribution rights to the film. After its TIFF premiere, the new Studio Ghibli film will be released in America on December 8. This will include regular and premium format screenings including IMAX.
