The circumstances of Sunday's Game 4 between the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks forced Monty Williams' hand. The Suns surely would've worked the ball through Chris Paul through a majority of the second half, but it simply wasn't an option.

Paul picked up his fourth foul just before the half-time buzzer. His fifth came less than two-and-a-half minutes into the third quarter. And after spending the rest of the quarter on the bench, he fouled out with nine minutes left in the game.

From that point on, we got a glimpse of the Suns pre-Chris Paul. Devin Booker took over primary ball-handling duties for the final nine minutes of the game. Comeback efforts were too little, too late, as Phoenix fell 111-101, but those last minutes may have given a glimpse of the Suns we'll see the rest of the way.

Williams noted the Suns experimented with the look after the All-Star break but Booker hasn't played as the primary ball-handler in the playoffs until Sunday. While he wants a deeper look at the lineup through film study, Williams brought up the strengths of the lineup while speaking to reporters following Game 4.

“We're going to look at the film first before we make a decision but I feel like a lineup, one, that may help us on offense but two, defensively, it gives us bigger guys out there,” he said.

The Suns trotted out a taller lineup than they normally would. It had Booker (6-foot-5) in Paul's (6-feet) spot, Cam Johnson (6-foot-8) at the 2-guard, Mikal Bridges (6-foot-6) at small forward,  Jae Crowder (6-foot-6) at power forward, and Bismack Biyombo (6-foot-8), later Deandre Ayton (7-feet) at center.

The lineup looked silky smooth on the court and could offer defensive protection when the Mavericks penetrate the paint. Look for this lineup in Game 5 Tuesday when Paul needs a rest on the bench.
