The Phoenix Suns will be without Deandre Ayton and Richaun Holmes against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday:

Both Ayton and Holmes suffered their respective foot injuries in Saturday's 135-115 loss against the Charlotte Hornets. Ayton had 10 points and two rebounds in 22 minutes before leaving the game with a sprained left ankle. Holmes had four points and four rebounds in 14 minutes before exiting with a sprained right foot.

While the Suns are having another dismal season, Ayton has been enjoying a terrific rookie campaign. The No. 1 overall pick out of Arizona is averaging 16.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 30.8 minutes per game. The 7-foot-1 center is shooting 59.4 percent from the field.

Holmes has been a solid backup for Ayton, averaging 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds in 15.9 minutes per contest. He's shooting an incredible 67.3 percent from the field.

With Ayton and Holmes both out, look for Timberwolves star big man Karl-Anthony Towns to go to work down low. Expect Dragan Bender and Quincy Acy to see more minutes in the frontcourt to make up for these injuries, and perhaps Ryan Anderson even gets taken out of rotation exile.

Phoenix has lost three games in a row to drop to 11-36 on the season, which is the fourth-worst record in the NBA.
