Phoenix Suns star guard Devin Booker is confident that they can turn things around in the 2019-2020 season.

Booker talked to Dave King of SB Nation and chimed in on the offseason moves that the Suns made. Along with acquiring and re-signing some key pieces, their most notable move was the hiring of Monty Williams as head coach. Williams has been tagged as one of the best up and coming coaches in the NBA.

“I’m very excited. Very excited,” Booker said. “Really good coaching staff, a lot of guys that have played in the league. Rubio, re-signing Kelly, [Dario] Saric, Aron Baynes… a lot of NBA guys I’m looking forward to playing with.”

Booker also believes that the new players they've acquired will provide some much-needed experience both in the regular season and in the playoffs. The 22-year-old is hoping to follow their lead and at the same time, try to be the team's leader as well.

“We have a really good group of guys,” Booker furthered. “That have experience, have playoff experience, and know what it takes to get there. I’m following them, and at the same time trying to lead, and turn this thing around.”

The last time the Suns made the playoffs was in the 2009-2010 season. After that campaign, the franchise experienced a tough downhill trajectory. Last year was the third consecutive campaign that they finished dead last (15th place) in the Western Conference.

This time, however, it feels different. Coupled with Booker's optimism, the new-look Suns under Williams might just figure out the right path to success.
