Duke Johnson had been waiting for a trade from the Cleveland Browns all offseason after the team made the move to sign Kareem Hunt. With Nick Chubb already penciled in as the starter, Johnson knew that there would be no role for him within the offense after Hunt returns from suspension. Thankfully, the Browns appeased his trade request with a move to the Houston Texans.

Now, his new head coach, Bill O'Brien, already has a “vision” for the dual-threat running back.

“We have a vision for how we want to use him, we’re excited about it, we’ve got to get him rehabbed. He hasn’t missed any games in the past, I think, three years. Played 16-game seasons, been very productive, has played on special teams. We just have to get him out on a field and try to start seeing him within the vision that we have for him.”

Johnson is going to be a major weapon for the Texans and quarterback Deshaun Watson. He is a capable threat on the ground, but he separates himself as a receiver out of the backfield. That is how he will push starter Lamar Miller for touches.

Last season with the Browns, Johnson ended up carrying the football 40 times for 201 yards and no touchdowns. He also ended up catching 47 passes for 429 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers came in a year where the Browns simply weren't using him like they had in the past.

Back in the 2017 season in Cleveland, Johnson racked up 348 yards and four touchdowns on the ground to go along with 693 yards and three touchdowns through the air.

Houston got themselves a great offensive weapon and O'Brien and company can't wait to get him on the field.
