Houston Texans wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was carted off of the field with an apparent leg injury during his team's game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon, according to James Palmer of NFL Network.

Adam Schefter of ESPN has since clarified that the injury is, in fact, an Achilles injury.

The injury appeared to be of the non-contact variety, as Thomas pushed off of the line of scrimmage and immediately went down, punching the ground in frustration.

Thomas caught three passes for 37 yards before exiting.

This is awful news for the Texans, who acquired Thomas in a trade with the Denver Broncos in the middle of the season.

In seven games for Houston this season, Thomas has hauled in 23 receptions for 275 yards and a couple of touchdowns, providing Deshaun Watson with another weapon to throw to alongside of DeAndre Hopkins.

On the year overall, Thomas has registered 59 catches for 677 yards and five scores in 15 games between the Broncos and the Texans.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Georgia Tech, was originally selected by the Broncos in the first round (22nd pick overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

He had a very quiet rookie campaign, snaring just 22 balls for 283 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games, and the following year, Thomas finished with 32 catches, 551 yards, and four scores.

But then, Peyton Manning arrived in Denver in 2012, and Thomas broke out, racking up 94 catches for 1,434 yards while reaching the end zone 10 times en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Thomas proceeded to make three consecutive trips to Honolulu and has four under his belt overall.

The Texans came into Sunday's action with a record of 10-4 and have a legitimate shot at a first-round bye.
