The Houston Texans came away with a big victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, and afterward, Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers was very complimentary of Texans' signal-caller Deshaun Watson.

“I actually saw him before I was walking in [to the press conference] and he came — actually I think he came looking for me — and called my name and said great job, continue to grow and I have a bright future and I’ll see you in January, so looking forward to that,” said Watson, per Avery Duncan of Texans Wire.

Watson also said it was an honor to play against Rivers.

“He’s a veteran guy that’s played 17 years and won a lot of football games, played a lot of playoff games,” said Watson. “To come in his house and compete with him is special.”

Watson completed 25 of his 34 passes for 351 yards and three interceptions in what ended up being a 27-20 win, and perhaps most importantly, he was sacked just twice after having been sacked a combined 10 times between Weeks 1 and 2.

On the season overall, Watson has thrown for 778 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception while completing 65.6 percent of his throws and posting a passer rating of 108.6.

The 24-year-old is in his third season after being drafted 12th overall in 2017. He made the Pro Bowl last year after throwing for 4,165 yards, 26 touchdowns, and nine picks.

Meanwhile, the Texans improved to 2-1 with the victory, keeping pace with the Indianapolis Colts, who are also 2-1, for first place in the AFC South.

Houston will head back home to host the Carolina Panthers next Sunday.
