The Houston Texans have made some roster moves on Monday. Houston announced that they signed cornerback Derrick Jones and waived wide receiver Stephen Louis.

Jones began his career with the New York Jets after they drafted him in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft from Ole Miss. The 24-year old-defensive back spent two seasons in New York but rarely suited up for the team.

In his first two seasons, Jones has been active for only four games and has totaled just three tackles during his time on the field. After the 2018 season, Jones was released by the Jets—leaving him to find a new team for the upcoming 2019 season.

Earlier this offseason, the Green Bay Packers brought Jones onto their roster to get some reps in training camp. Nearly a week ago, the Packers decided to release Jones a day before their second preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Texans signed Jones on Monday, but the young cornerback will have a tough time making the 53-man roster. Houston is considerably deep at cornerback and it doesn't help when you have just two weeks to leave an impression on a team.

On the other hand, Louis was cut by the team to make room for Jones. He signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent after this year's draft concluded.

The undrafted rookie comes from NC State where he had 37 receptions for 583 yards and two touchdowns in 2017. In the end, Louis wasn't expected to make the roster with how talented the Texans are at wide receiver.
