The current state of the Houston Texans is shaping up for them to have a massive rebuild in the coming years, to the dismay of one of their star players. With Houston likely headed toward a makeover, J.J. Watt isn't interested in being part of a rebuild.

Via Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com:

“I don’t think it’s any secret that I don’t have 10 years left in this league,” Watt said. “I personally believe that I do have a few more great ones left in me. But you also can’t . . . I’m not looking to rebuild. I’m looking to go after a championship, and that’s what I want to do. So, whatever is in the best interest of the Houston Texans, that’s in the best interest of myself.”

At 31 years old, Watt is on the decline of his career. While he's still a disruptive force, the Texans aren't built to win right now, with the team needing to find a new head coach and general manager after firing Bill O'Brien earlier this season.

Plus, Houston's salary cap situation leaves them at an impasse, forcing them to rebuild through the draft. But the thing is, the Texans are also limited in draft capital due to trading picks away for certain players.

Most people believe Houston is going to need some time to reshape its roster before becoming contenders in the AFC again. On the other hand, Watt doesn't believe a rebuild is something he's interested in being a part of.

However, even though he would prefer to remain with the Texans and not chase a Super Bowl elsewhere, Watt said his goal is still to win a championship. Given that, it remains to be seen if Watt is suiting up for Houston in 2021.
