The Houston Texans have expressed interest in free-agent offensive lineman Donald Penn, according to Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle.

Penn was released by the Oakland Raiders late last week.

The 35-year-old is coming off of a season in which he played in just four games as a result of a groin injury that ultimately landed him on the injured reserve list.

Penn, who played his collegiate football at Utah State, went undrafted but eventually landed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007. He won the starting left tackle job during his rookie campaign and went on to become a mainstay along the Buccaneers' offensive, never missing a game in any of his seven seasons with the team. He also made a Pro Bowl in 2010.

After his tenure in Tampa Bay, Penn signed a two-year deal with the Raiders in March 2014 and proceeded to spend five years with the club, making back-to-back Pro Bowls in 2016 and 2017.

Penn's streak of playing in every single game ended at the beginning of the 2017 campaign due to a holdout, but he ultimately agreed to a new deal with Oakland and played out the final 14 games of the season.

This past season marked the first serious injury of Penn's NFL career, a remarkable testament of just how durable the Los Angeles native has been.

The Texans won 11 games in 2018 and captured the AFC South division title, marking their third division crown in four years.

They then went on to lose to the Indianapolis Colts in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
