Texas A&M's football team has its interim coach. Texas A&M associate head coach Elijah Robinson is acting in an interim role after the firing of Jimbo Fisher, per ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher on Sunday, following a 51-10 victory over Mississippi State. That wasn't enough for Fisher to keep his job, however, as the team is just 6-4 on the season with games remaining against Abilene Christian and LSU. Fisher and Texas A&M lost this year already to Alabama, Tennessee, and Ole Miss in the SEC. The Aggies also lost in the non conference to Miami. Texas A&M is looking at a long list of possible replacements for Fisher, including Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin.

Fisher is owed a nearly $76 million buyout from the school, and it's expected to be paid to him. He's also expected to have offers to coach at other schools. Despite his struggles recently with the Aggies, Fisher is one of the most successful coaches in college football. He won a national championship in 2013 at Florida State and had four seasons with at least 8 wins at Texas A&M until 2022. In 2022, Fisher and the Aggies finished 5-7.

Elijah Robinson has been in College Station since 2018. He has coached the defensive line for Texas A&M since arriving that year. He's also served as assistant head coach and run game coordinator since 2022. Robinson also spent time as an assistant for Baylor, Temple and Penn State before his time with Texas A&M.

Robinson's first game as interim coach will be against Abilene Christian on Saturday. The game kicks off at noon Eastern. Abilene Christian is 5-5 on the season.
