The NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching and the Cincinnati Bengals are looking for a way to invest in the future and find ways to help rookie quarterback Joe Burrow be as comfortable as possible in the offense. A great way to do that could be by adding Philadelphia Eagles’ tight end, Zach Ertz.
Rapien: I mentioned to you a few weeks ago when there were some rumblings that he wanted a new contract, and it’s funny that it has gone down this road because he’s having a bad year this year. Zach Ertz is reportedly on the block. The Philadelphia Eagles obviously have Dallas Goedert. Ertz currently has two more years left on his deal but there is a potential out after this year. There is a cap hit of $12 million this year and next year, the same thing, around $12 million. His base salary is at $8 million. At one point or another, he had restructured the deal but my point being that Zach Ertz is a guy that I think when I look at this offense and I look at Joe Burrow and what he’s able to do and a 29-year old Zach Ertz that should be a pretty good receiver for the next three or four years in this offense that includes Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd and whatever receiver they draft. Again, I don’t expect Green to be here for the next four years but who knows. Maybe that changes.
