Video game remakes do a really good job of triggering nostalgia. We get short glimpses back into simpler times but with upgraded graphics. Now, a beloved rail shooter makes its way to the Nintendo Switch with a brand new coat of paint almost 25 years later. The House of the Dead: Remake is here and it looks absolutely stunning.

FIGHT ZOMBIES IN THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: REMAKE

The original game in the franchise first launched back in 1996. The House of the Dead evolved through many iterations and various platforms. The series' most recent game launched back in 2018 for the arcade platform. Now, new developers bring the beloved series back to the console with an amazing remake of the first game for the Nintendo Switch.

MegaPixel Studios showed the first real look at the game's remake and it's very promising. The House of the Dead Remake features new graphics, better controls, and multiple endings. Players get to run through the campaign solo or in two-player co-op mode. The short dialogue featured in the video includes the same old cheesy dialogue and delivery that the series is known for.

Old rail shooters required lightgun accessories in order to be played comfortably. Now, its transition to the Nintendo Switch platform opens the game to various options. The developers made no promises but the House of the Dead: Remake could potentially be played freehand with the Joy-cons. However, the inclusion of new lightgun hardware won't be the worst thing in the world.  Fortunately, the technology behind video game console hardware has come a long way in the many years since the last console The House of the Dead game.

The House of the Dead: Remake is slated for release sometime in 2021. Hopefully, the company reveals more about the return of one of the most beloved arcade games of the late nineties.
