Why The Thunder Could Cover The Spread/Win

The Thunder did not exactly play a bad game. However, they stumbled down the stretch. It would not be short-sided to say this was a game of inches. Therefore, the Thunder have some adjustments to make.

The Thunder shot 46.9 percent from the floor, including 33.3 percent from beyond the arc. Also, they shot 78.9 percent from the free-throw line. The Thunder lost the board battle. Also, they had slightly more turnovers.

Gilgeous-Alexander did not shoot as well as he did in Game 1. Furthermore, he turned the ball over five times and had five fouls. But Gilgeous-Alexander also had five blocked shots. Thus, there are some positives as one of the best players in the game hopes to make things right to help lead his team back into this series.

Williams was efficient on offense, but he also turned the ball over three times. Holmgren was solid on offense, blocking four shots. Josh Giddey struggled to get anything going. Unfortunately, he has just not produced in this series. Luguentz Dort had another bad shooting night. Unfortunately, this is not helping his team do much as they try to even the series.

The Thunder have to do a better job of winning the board battle. Sadly, they struggled on the boards, showcasing their lack of a big man. This means others must find a way to step up.  Ultimately, they will cover the spread if they can find a way to dominate on the boards. The Thunder must also find a way to slow down the Mavericks on defense.

Why The Mavericks Could Cover The Spread/Win

The Mavericks shot 42.2 percent from the floor, including 33.3 percent from beyond the arc. Furthermore, they shot 64 percent from the charity stripe. The Mavs simply did not shoot well. Yet, they found a way to win. The Mavericks won this game on the strength of rebounding. Significantly, they had 48 rebounds, including 15 on offense. Because of this, they got numerous chances and gave themselves opportunities to flourish.

Doncic was solid at shooting and a monster on the boards. His only issue was turnovers. Unfortunately, he turned the ball over four times. Irving had a good shooting night. However, like Doncic, he also had issues with ball handling, as he turned the ball over four times.

Washington shoot the ball well. Ultimately, he led the team in scoring. Gafford was nearly perfect in shooting, hitting 4 of 5 shots. Yet, he could have done more to help the Mavs thrive.

Dallas did a good job on the boards. Additionally, they also generated eight steals. But they have to improve their shooting. Also, they could stand to shoot better from the charity stripe. It will help them get the points they need when the game goes down to the wire.

The Mavericks will cover the spread if they can shoot the ball efficiently. Then, they need to win the board battle again.

Final Thunder-Mavericks Game 4 Prediction & Pick

The Thunder should have won Game 3. Ultimately, they shot the ball better and controlled several aspects of the game. But they also gave Dallas multiple second-chances. Because of this, the Mavericks were able to prevail. That won't happen again. Overall, neither team has the big man to completely dominate the boards. But the Thunder have the talent to overcome their issues and force this series back home in a 2-2 tie. The Thunder win this game and cover the spread on the road to make it 2-2 heading back to OKC.
