Tiger Woods is set to join Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas in the 7th edition of The Match, per ESPN. NFL players such as Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers have previously participated in the event alongside professional golfers. But this time around, the PGA will showcase its top talent with Woods and McIlroy facing off against Thomas and Spieth.

The Match will take place in December at the Pelican Golf Club in Florida. The decision to roll with Woods was likely an easy one. The only reason Woods would not have been chosen for the event would be due to injuries. Tiger hasn't participated in an event since July, when he missed the cut at the Open Championship due to lingering pain he suffered from his car crash.

Tiger Woods' teammate for the event, Rory McIlroy, previously won the FedEx Cup championship. Woods expressed his excitement for McIlroy following his victory.

“@McIlroyRory starts the week off with a triple bogey, and never gave up, now he’s the @playofffinale Champion. Heck of a year for Scottie (Scheffler) too, great way to close out the season!” Woods shared on Twitter.

Defeating Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth will prove to be quite the challenge at The Match in December. Both golfers feature no shortage of talent and will not be intimidated. And Woods may be a bit rusty after not playing in PGA caliber competition for 5 months. With that being said, betting against a team consisting of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy is a risky proposition.
