The stories of Bobby Bowden spread far and wide and many have told their favorite ones on Sunday that shine a light on how great of a person the Florida State legend was.
Everyone has a Bobby Bowden story. Mine: 1983. I am soph @UF student reporter @alligatorSports. Phone rings. It’s Bowden, honoring my request for pre-game interview. Gives me 30 mins, maybe more. Made me feel legit.
This is how he built FSU, making one fan at a time. RIP Coach.

Pretty sure in four years of doing student radio at @univmiami, Bobby Bowden was the only opposing head football coach to do an interview with us. Accepted the request almost immediately and stayed on for like 15 mins. Ultimate class act and obviously a legendary career. https://t.co/wcMo91SQYJ

Alabama coach Nick Saban released a letter after hearing about the passing of Bowden. He had an incredible story as well.
“My father passed away while coach Bowden was at West Virginia University,” he said. “Coach didn’t know me from Adam’s house cat, but he knew my dad and got word that maybe my mom was struggling a bit back home in West Virginia. I pick up the phone one day and it’s coach Bowden himself. He tells me knew my dad and said that if I needed to be closer to home, he would make a place for me on his Mountaineer coaching staff. How many coaches would do that? How many people would do that.”
Bobby Bowden won two national championship games at Florida State (1993, 1999) and he accumulated an overall record of 377-129-4 across his stories college football coaching career.
Rest in peace to a legend.
