The Minnesota Timberwolves went 0-3 on their latest road trip and All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns says the lack of execution on the defensive side of the ball is the main reason why the team is struggling.

The Timberwolves gave up 131 points to the Atlanta Hawks, 122 to the Indiana Pacers, and 135 to the Washington Wizards. Minnesota scored over 115 points in each game, so offense isn't an issue for the team right now. The T-Wolves aren't stopping other clubs from scoring and it's been hard to watch.

“We’re just not executing,” Towns said after practice on Monday, via Jace Frederick of the Pioneer Press. “We didn’t execute our game plan. We didn’t execute the pride and energy.”

On the season, the Timberwolves are giving up 112.8 points per game. That's 21st in the NBA. Minnesota ranks 12th in the league in scoring; the team is putting up 112.6 points per night. Firing Tom Thibodeau as head coach earlier this season might have been the right move for the franchise, but a quick fix to this team's problems has not materialized. This roster hasn't been able to create a sustained turnaround.

The Timberwolves have given up at least 100 points in 12 consecutive games. With their playoff hopes fading as each day passes, the players on the team know their lack of intensity on defense is the main reason why they aren't winning games.
