Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves have mostly gone under the radar this season. The team has quietly held on to the sixth spot in the Western Conference, which is a massive improvement from last year. Towns is also an All-Star this year, and has been one of the best big men in the league.
Against the Giannis Antetokounmpo-less Milwaukee Bucks, Karl-Anthony Towns flexed his All-Star muscles. The Timberwolves forward scored 25 points along with 11 rebounds and five assists. Over the last three games, Towns has scored 115 points (including a sixty-bomb a few days ago), which is a T-Wolves franchise record.

Had Towns played like this a few years earlier, he would've been considered the best big man in the league today. His blend of three-point shooting and inside dominance is unlike anything we've seen before. However, the Timberwolves star's peak coincided with the peak of Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Antetokounmpo. Because of those three, Towns has been left out in talks.
That, of course, doesn't mean that he isn't any good. Far from it, actually: this season, the Timberwolves center has took it upon himself to be the leader of the team. He's been a lot more vocal, and his stellar play on the court helps cement his status as the alpha. He may never reach the peaks of the three guys mentioned above, but Towns can absolutely come close to them.
The Timberwolves are all but locks to make the playoffs at this point. What Towns and the team wants, though, is to guarantee a sixth-place or higher finish. If they do that, they'll avoid being eliminated early in the volatile play-in tournament.
