The Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers traded blows for 48 minutes, but Tyson Chandler was the difference late in the game, winning the battle inside against Karl-Anthony Towns. Chandler's ability to tip the ball out to the perimeter and give his team extra possessions was the eventual difference in a four-point win for Los Angeles.

But it appears that Chandler's hard work inside should have drawn whistles from the officials. According to the NBA's Last Two Minute Report, Towns should have drawn a loose ball foul against Chandler, giving the Timberwolves an opportunity to take the lead with 14 seconds left to play. Not only that, but Chandler was allowed to get away with multiple fouls in the waning seconds.

It's unfortunate for the Timberwolves, but that's the way it goes in the NBA. Not every call is going to go your way and although this missed call is magnified due to the timing of the error, it doesn't excuse Towns' lack of rebounding late in the game. Chandler tipped the ball out and helped regain possession for Los Angeles on multiple shots. Towns wasn't able to stop Chandler from getting position on any of these plays.

It's a tough loss for Minnesota, who played well, but they have no one to blame but themselves. Towns was only 5-for-16 from the field and he disappeared late for the Timberwolves. The refs made crucial mistakes late, but this loss still rests on Towns' shoulders.
