Chicago Bulls fans still love Derrick Rose.

In spite of the fact that Rose was returning to the United Center as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night, the point guard still heard MVP chants in the arena he used to call home:

The most heartwarming part of this moment was that Rose smiled at the free-throw line, acknowledging the fans who used to cheer for him night in and night out:

Rose finished with 24 points in a Timberwolves blowout win, just his latest strong performance in what has been a season full of them.

Earlier in the year, the 2010-11 NBA Most Valuable Player scored a career-high 50 points in a win over the Utah Jazz. Rose entered Wednesday averaging 18.5 points, 4.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds over 29.2 minutes per game while shooting 48.5 percent from the floor, 46.9 percent from 3-point range and 84.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Memphis, was originally selected by the Bulls with the first overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft.

He went to win the Rookie of the Year award in 2008-09, registering 16.8 points and 6.3 assists per game.

Two years later, Rose won an MVP, posting 25.0 points, 7.7 dimes and 4.1 rebounds a night while making 44.5 percent of his shots, 33.2 percent of his triples and 85.8 percent of his foul shots.

However, the following year, Rose tore his ACL in Game 1 of Chicago's first-round playoff series, an injury that altered his career forever.

Since then, Rose has battled constant knee issues and has played with three other teams since departing the Bulls via free agency in 2016.
