Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown elaborated to the media about the emotional message he shared last week. In the video posted on social media last Friday, the 24-year-old opened up about his mental illness. Brown shared that a year ago, he thought about taking his own life due to his struggles with depression.

According to ESPN, Brown posted the video to reach others who needed the message of hope.

“I wanted to encourage others to seek help whenever they are down…I just wanted to put out a positive message that I'm still here, I'm growing, I'm blessed and have a lot to be thankful for,” Brown said Thursday.

He also thanked many people who continue to help him fight his depression, including Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. Brown said that the coach is always available to his players when they need him. According to Vrabel, that's his job. “it is part of our job to make sure that they can deal with the stresses of life, the stresses of professional football, the strain it sometimes puts on their family,” he said Thursday.

The young Titans receiver also highlighted the importance of men's mental health. Brown assured men that “it's OK to talk to someone.” He told the media that he still talks to a therapist to benefit his mental well-being, and he is thankful for his support system.
