After a thrilling victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8, the Tennessee Titans have fallen on their face their past two games. Week 10 saw the Titans take an embarrassing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. DeAndre Hopkins has diagnosed exactly what went wrong.
Tennessee lost to Tampa Bay 20-6. Hopkins stated that the Titans' downfall came due to their lack of effort and execution, via Turron Davenport of ESPN.
“We're not playing good enough football to win right now. The outcome is the outcome, you've seen what happened today. I got to play better, I hope everybody else feels the same,” Hopkins said. “Coaches can only do so much to put us in a position, it's on us at the end of the day.”
In terms of what he needs to improve on, Hopkins said he wants to capitalize on any opportunity thrown his way. If a ball is in the air coming in his direction, he wants to come down with it every single time. He didn't have many of those opportunities against the Buccaneers, catching three passes for 27 yards.
Still, Hopkins isn't blaming quarterback Will Levis. The rookie completed 19-of-39 passes for 199 scoreless yards and an interception. Hopkins knows that as this offense grows, Levis will grow with it.
“I'm letting him play ball. He hasn't started a lot of games. I'm not going over there really harping on things, trying to distract him. For me it's really just trying to execute and run the right routes for him.”
Tennessee has struggled mightily this season, owning just a 3-6 record. If thy want to get back to winning and avenge their Buccaneers loss, DeAndre Hopkins says everyone on the team must step up.
