Former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney reunited with his former defensive coordinator with the Houston Texans Mike Vrabel this offseason when the 27-year-old Clowney signed with the Tennessee Titans on a one-year, $15 million deal.

Clowney is apparently excited to get back to work with Titans head coach Vrabel after a down year with the Seattle Seahawks, per a story by Josh Alper on NBC Sports:

“I think Mike Vrabel is one of the smartest coaches I think I’ve ever had since I’ve been playing football,” Clowney said in the story. “He knows football front and back, and he knows how to put guys in position to make plays, and that’s what he did in Houston. When I got here, he started moving me around already.

He just put me in position to make plays, he believes I’m a playmaker and he believes in in my ability to make plays. So he keeps lining me up all over the place, and I’ll keep making plays for him. I just was trying to figure out what scheme and what I wanted to be a part of. I know when I was with Vrabel in Houston I was second team All-Pro and three Pro Bowls with him. I was saying in my head, ‘I think I can do that with him in that system.”

Clowney laid out his plaudits with the Texans nicely, as the team drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick in 2014. But the gifted defensive back suffered through an injury-plagued rookie campaign before bouncing back in a big way in his third season, which began his run of three straight Pro Bowls with the team.

Surely, Jadeveon Clowney hopes returning to work with Vrabel will also see him return to his Texans form as well.
