The Tennessee Titans are off to a strong start to the season after pushing their record to 3-1 mark through the first month of action.

However, the Titans have lost a key piece to the puzzle defensively with safety Kenny Vaccaro suffering an elbow dislocation that will keep him off the field for the next couple of weeks, according to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network.

The Titans had dodged a major bullet as the injury had initially looked much more gruesome when it occurred. There was talk it could worse than an elbow dislocation that could have put him out for much longer, which could have forced him to be out of the lineup for the next several weeks instead he should be back on the field within a month.

Tennessee had inked Vaccaro to a deal late in the offseason to provide more stability to their secondary that he has stepped up in a prominent role within that group. In the first four games played this season, he has 17 total tackles, 1.0 sacks, and an interception. He has seamlessly fit in the mix as a key piece to the Titans defense that has helped them get off to a strong start out of the gate to the 2018 season that has pushed them atop of the AFC South division standings.

The absence of Vaccaro puts more pressure on the rest of the secondary over the next couple of weeks to pick it up. This will put Kendrick Lewis is a more prominent role while Pro Bowl safety Kevin Byard will have to lead the charge in that group while Vaccaro is on the mend. The Titans have a tough schedule over the next month facing a slew of teams that could contend for the playoffs with the likes of the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, and New England Patriots.
