Tennessee Titans tight end Jonnu Smith exited Thursday night's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with an apparent knee injury, according to Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com.

Smith needed help off the field and the injury did not look good, in terms of Smith's hopes of returning in this game. The tight end position is already fairly weak for the Titans considering Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker was lost for the season back in Week 1. Smith has filled in for Walker to a certain extent, however Walker's athleticism and reliability are unmatched on the team's current roster.

Smith has been a bit better in recent weeks but right after Walker's injury, Smith was almost nowhere to be found in the passing game. Smith has 20 receptions, 258 yards, and three touchdowns for the Titans this season. The emergence of wide receiver Corey Davis has diverged some targets away from Smith, but quarterback Marcus Mariota doesn't seem to have quite the connection he had with Smith that he had with Walker.

The Titans high hopes for Smith's return won't be enough to get him back on the field, but there's a chance the injury wasn't as bad as it looked. Smith provides nice blocking ability and does offer solid upside in the red zone, so the Titans will have to wait and see how serious the injury. The former third round pick hopefully won't miss any action on the field this season.
