The Tennessee Titans have officially made a move under center. No, Titans fans, franchise quarterback Marcus Mariota isn't going anywhere just yet while Tennessee has elected to part ways with one of his back-ups.

According to an official statement released by the team on Monday afternoon, the Titans have cut quarterback Austin Davis.

With the aforementioned Mariota regularly banged up, especially at the end of the 2018 regular season, Tennessee brought on Davis for his latest stint with the franchise late in the year. Never seeing the field as a member of the Titans in 2018, Davis notably backed-up Blaine Gabbert, who ultimately became the Titans' starter under center in the absence of the oft-injured Mariota.

The 29-year-old quarterback has made regular-season appearances for three NFL teams since originally breaking into the league. While first suiting up for the then-St. Louis Rams in 2014-15, the former Southern Miss standout then made appearances for the Cleveland Browns in 2015-16 and the Seattle Seahawks in 2017-18, respectively.

Throughout his NFL career as a whole, Davis has accumulated a mere 16 regular season appearances en route to completing 62.4 percent of his passing attempts. Throwing for 13 touchdowns against 12 interceptions during his brief tenure atop the highest level, Davis has thrown for 2,548 yards on 236 completions in all.

Despite struggling mightily at times, especially without Mariota, the Titans took it down to the wire this past season while eventually missing out on the playoffs, finishing behind both the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South.
