The Tennessee Titans have released quarterback Blaine Gabbert, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The move comes on the heels of the Titans' trade for Miami Dolphins signal-caller Ryan Tannehill on Friday.

Gabbert appeared in eight games for the Titans this past season, making three starts in relief of Marcus Mariota, who dealt with injuries throughout the year. When he was on the field, Gabbert threw for 626 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions while completing 60.4 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 74.9.

The 29-year-old, who played collegiate football at the University of Missouri, was originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 10th pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Gabbert made 14 starts for the Jaguars during his rookie campaign, throwing for 2,214 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 11 picks while completing just 50.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 65.4.

The following year, Gabbert showed minimal improvement, making 10 starts and finishing with 1,662 yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions while recording a completion percentage of 58.3 and a passer rating of 77.4.

Gabbert spent one more season with Jacksonville before the Jags gave up on him. He proceeded to sign with the San Francisco 49ers in 2014. He played three years with the 49ers, making 13 starts in total.

The Ballwin, Mo., native then joined the Arizona Cardinals in 2017, starting five games and tallying 1,086 yards, six touchdowns, and six picks.

He then proceeded to sign with the Titans.

Tennessee won nine games and just missed the playoffs in 2018.
