The Tennessee Titans suffered a devastating blow with Derrick Henry's foot injury on Sunday. The injury is reportedly expected to keep Henry out for at least the remainder of the regular season, if not the whole season if the Titans make the playoffs.
With Henry on the shelf, the Titans will be scouring the market for somebody to help replace him. There are obviously no other running backs out there who can come close to replicating what Henry brings to the table, but Tennessee will take what it can get, and it looks like veteran Adrian Peterson is an option. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports the Titans are expected to work out Peterson at some point this week.

Like Henry is now, Peterson was once one of the most dominant running backs in the NFL. While he's well past his prime at 36 years old, Peterson did play last season for the Detroit Lions and didn't look totally washed, rushing 156 times for 604 yards and seven touchdowns. He also caught 12 passes for 101 yards.
Peterson probably can't contribute all that much anymore, but perhaps he has a little something still left in the tank. He'll likely be one of multiple options the Titans will look at in their bid to make up for Henry's absence.
Henry's backup is currently Jeremy McNichols, who has bounced around a bit in the NFL since coming into the league in 2017 as a fifth-round pick. He had 47 carries for 204 yards and a touchdown with Tennessee in 2020. He has just seven carries for 38 yards so far this season.
The Titans also have Dontrell Hilliard on the running back depth chart. It's going to take a team effort to get over this brutal Henry injury.
