Former UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is quite familiar with both Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. With his two former foes set to face off in the main event of the highly anticipated UFC257 at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi on Saturday, “The Eagle” shared his two cents on who would win the fight.

While Khabib did not exactly point out who would get his hand raised in the five-round bout, he did suggest two likely scenarios during his appearance on UFC's “Looking for a Fight” show (via SportBible)

“Just two rounds – Conor,” the Russian mixed martial artist said, emphasizing he sees the Irishman dominating the fight early.

“Early, it's Conor. But, third round, number four, I think Dustin can beat this guy.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov, of course, became a bona fide MMA superstar when he submitted Conor McGregor with a neck crank in four rounds at UFC 228 in 2018 to defend his UFC Lightweight Championship. His next bout the following year was against Dustin Poirier, whom he also submitted via rear-naked choke at UFC 242 to retain his belt.

Following his third successful title defense against Justin Gaethje in October, the undefeated Sambo specialist has made it clear that he will no longer fight professionally to honor his promise to his father. Khabib's dad and long-time cornerman, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, passed away last July and Khabib vowed to never fight without him by his side.

McGregor and Poirier, on the other hand, are also no strangers to one another considering they already fought before at Featherweight back in 2014. It was the Irishman who emerged victorious in that bout, knocking out The Diamond in just one round. UFC president Dana White is obviously trying his hardest to persuade Khabib to return and face the winner of this match.

Guess fans will have to wait and see if Nurmagomedov will get that itch to fight in the octagon once more.
