Cody Garbrandt is set to make his flyweight debut at UFC 269 against Kai Kara-France on Saturday. The fight is expected to kick off his title run in the weight class.

Kai-Kara France is a very fun to watch striker with big power in his hands. The same can also be said of Cody Garbrandt.

Cody Garbrandt has gone through a lot heading into UFC 269. He was champion, lost his belt, dealt with injuries. It has been quite a bumpy ride for the former champion.

“It’s been a crazy, wild rollercoaster of ups and downs, but I never lost my faith in myself and the confidence in myself that I would be back to being here, coming to fight week,” Garbrandt said via MMAFighting. “I hate using this word ‘motivated’ so I’ll use ‘inspired’. I’m inspired for what’s about to take place Saturday night and that’s the flyweight takeover.”

“I’ve been inspired this whole entire camp to do something that a few people have done,” he later added. “Yes, I’ve been a world champion, a former world champion in a previous weight division, that’s a small percent of human beings being able to have that title to their name. But even a smaller percentage have gone to a different division and being a world champion as well, so I’m inspired by myself, but also a lot of people around me with what’s about to take place Saturday and that’s just the start of it.”

Cody Garbrant has big plans to become the next flyweight champion and he hopes to kick things off with a win at UFC 269. The first test won't be an easy one as Kai Kara-France can match him in many aspects.

The biggest question people have is how the weight cut will affect Cody Garbrandt. UFC 269 will be the answer to many questions and could kick off a wild title ride at 125.
