As a freshman at Carrollton High School, quarterback Julian Lewis had one of the greatest seasons in Georgia high school football history, leading Carrollton to the state championship game in 2022 while throwing for over 4,000 yards and 48 touchdowns. A year later, after losing in the state title game the year prior despite throwing for over 500 yards and five touchdowns, Lewis got the job done, and soon after, he reclassified, becoming one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting class.

By the time he reclassified, Lewis had already committed to Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans, but he has since continued to talk with and visit other programs. Recent visits to Indiana, Auburn, and most notably, Colorado, have led some to believe that with a year left before Julian Lewis makes his long-awaited NCAA debut, he could have a change of heart. Specifically, Colorado seems to be a major player here. With the aura of Deion Sanders likely to be enough to entice any big-name recruit to consider the Buffaloes, the opening that Colorado will have at quarterback heading into next season could pave the way for Lewis to bolt to Boulder with a multi-million dollar NIL deal serving as the sweetener.

However, the concerns of Trojan fans were likely alleviated on Thursday afternoon, when Julian Lewis took to Twitter to post a video which simultaneously hypes up his eventual tenure with the Trojans, while also looking at the long and illustrious history of the USC football program.

Carrollton Trojans quarterback Julian Lewis (10) watches on from the sidelines against the Westlake Lions during the first half at Grisham Stadium. The 15-year-old Carrollton High student has already committed to playing for the University of Southern California Trojans and has been considered one of the top high school quarterback prospects.

So, Julian Lewis is heading to USC, right?

Well, if you take Julian Lewis' most recent tweet at face value, then yes, it looks like he's LA-bound next summer. But in today's college football landscape, recruiting is like the Wild West… it's often the quickest (and richest) gun that gets the win. There's certainly no guarantee that Colorado won't come in with an NIL offer on par with what Shedeur Sanders has been making. Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers have been making all sorts of waves in the recruiting game recently, and Auburn presents Lewis with an opportunity to play closer to home than both USC and Colorado would.

Ultimately, I'd bet on Julian Lewis sticking with USC as long as Lincoln Riley is there. Riley has loads of experience with high-profile quarterbacks, including a trio — Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Caleb Williams — who have gone on to be selected 1st overall in the NFL Draft. If that is Julian Lewis' desired end game, then remaining committed to USC is his best bet to get there.
