Sony has dropped the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance. Tom Hardy once again returns as Eddie Brock and the film promises alien warfare.

What goes down?

The Venom: The Last Dance trailer begins with Eddie Brock taking down a crew of gangsters. He's noticeably donning the Golden State Warriors t-shirt that he wears in the Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credits scene. A slowed-down version of David Bowie's “Space Oddity” plays over the trailer.

“We always knew it was impossible that we were alone in the universe,” Juno Temple's character tells Chiwetel Ejiofor. “And it's our job to make sure that remains a secret.”

Eddie and Venom are both hunted down by Temple and Ejiofor's characters.

“We are fugitives on the run in the s**t,” Venom tells Eddie.

Later in the trailer, Eddie and Venom reunite with Mrs. Chen (Peggy Lu) from the previous films. They appear to be in Las Vegas as they dance.

A Spider-Man cameo?

Two minutes into the trailer, Rhys Ifans' character is seen. Eddie appears to be in a van with Ifans, who is playing a guitar with long hair and a beard.

In Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, Ifans played Dr. Curt Connors/the Lizard. He reprised the role in No Way Home in 2021. It's unclear if that is the role Ifans is playing in Sony's Spider-Man Universe film or if it's a new role (safe money is on the latter).

“Eddie, my home has found us,” Venom warns his human friend.

Various aliens are then shown as they threaten the Earth. “As long as Venom lives, everyone, everything, will end,” a character says before Eddie warns the symbiote that they may not make it out of this adventure.

“The time has come,” the symbiote tells Eddie.

The trailer ends with Eddie attempting to use the symbiote to connect with other beings. He first uses it on a horse which takes him on a wild ride.

What is Venom: The Last Dance?

The Last Dance is seemingly the final installment in Sony's Venom series. Tom Hardy has led the three installments which has been one of Sony's lone wins in their Spider-Man Universe. Other projects in the franchise include Morbius ($167 million) and Madame Web ($100 million).

Venom kicked off Sony's Spider-Man Universe in 2018 and was a smash hit. It grossed over $850 million worldwide. A sequel was released in 2021 and made over $500 million.

Kelly Marcel makes her directorial debut with The Last Dance. She previously wrote and produced the last two installments of the series. With The Last Dance, she collaborated with series star Hardy to develop the story.

Aside from Hardy, other returning cast members in The Last Dance include Peggy Lu and Stephen Graham. They played Mrs. Chen and Patrick Mulligan, respectively.

Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Alanna Ubach, Clark Backo, and Chiwetel Ejiofor headline the newcomers to the series. Ejiofor is not long removed from his role in Doctor Strange (and Multiverse of Madness). He plays Karl Mordo in the MCU series.

Venom: The Last Dance will be released on October 25.
