Players around the NFL continue to opt-out for the 2020 season while others are being placed on the league's COVID reserve list. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Minnesota Vikings have placed Anthony Barr on the team's COVID reserve list.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic still going on, the NFL and NFLPA agreed to allow teams to have a COVID reserve list in 2020. Even though players are placed on the list, that does not mean they tested positive for COVID-19.

Both the NFL and NFLPA also agreed to refrain from revealing if a player tested positive or not. Although, it's unclear on when a player can return to his respective team after being placed on the COVID reserve list. Seeing that the league wants to preserve the safety of the players, Barr will likely need to produce consecutive negative tests before rejoining the Vikings.

Besides Barr, there has been a decent number of players to be placed on the COVID reserve list. Earlier this week, the Vikings elected to place rookie Justin Jefferson on the team's reserve list.

Throughout the past six seasons, Barr has been a key contributor to Minnesota's defense. The former No. 9 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft is coming off of a 2019 season where he tallied a career-high 79 combined tackles. In addition to that, Barr recorded 1.5 sacks, one interception, and a forced fumble.

Barr is among many NFL players that are beginning training camp on the COVID reserve list. Once Barr shows that he's capable to return, the Vikings should expect him back on the field.
