The Minnesota Vikings already had one of the best defenses in the league, but the rich got richer with the team announcing they have added safety George Iloka.

The Cincinnati Bengals released Iloka earlier this week in a move to try and save the team money. The former Boise State Broncos star was drafted by the Bengals in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft when head coach Mike Zimmer was the defensive coordinator. Iloka became the Bengals starter in his second year in the league and has started every game he has played in since that point.

The Vikings defense is stacked and adding Iloka only makes it better. Harrison Smith and Andrew Sendejo are currently the starting safety and putting Iloka in the mix makes an already great secondary that much better.

With it being later in the preseason Iloka signing with Minnesota makes sense because he is already familiar with the team's defense. The one year deal also gives him flexibility allowing him to play this year out and then trying to find a long-term contract after the season. Iloka seems excited to be joining the team and said he is excited to get to work on a video posted on the team's Twitter account.

The Vikings were already one of the favorites to win this Super Bowl, and this signing defiantly doesn't hurt their chances. Minnesota's next preseason game is on Friday against the Seattle Seahawks.
