Several months ago, the entire basketball world was taken aback by the announcement that Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson was set to miss his second consecutive season due to an unfortunate Achilles injury. Unsurprisingly, teammate Stephen Curry himself was devastated upon learning the news — something that Steph's dad, Dell Curry, recently opened up about.

According to Dell, they were in the middle of a round of golf when Steph first found out about Thompson's injury:

“We could tell something was not right,” Dell said, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “He stopped golfing for a while and he told us (to) play through.”

Moments later, Steph broke the news to Dell and their group.

“Steph took it hard, but we all took it hard,” Dell said. “We’re all Warriors fans. We all felt his pain that day.”

We can only imagine what could have been going through the mind of Steph in that exact moment. The former back-t0-back MVP was himself coming off an injury-riddled 2019-20 campaign, and there was a lot of excitement surrounding his return for the new season. The same was the case for Thompson, who used the entire season to rehab an ACL injury.

The return of the Splash Brothers was imminent, and they were supposed to make the Dubs a contender again. That dream came crashing down the moment it was revealed that Klay was set to sit out another year.

It's been a tough journey for Steph since, but somehow, he's managed to put the weight of the entire squad on his able shoulders, as the Warriors currently remain in contention for a playoff spot in a ruthless Western Conference.
