JJ Redick speaks out on his admiration for Klay Thompson

On the most recent episode of “The JJ Redick Podcast,” the New Orleans Pelicans guard spoke about his admiration for Golden State Warriors All-Star Klay Thompson.

Thompson, who will return to the court for the Warriors in 2020-21 after missing the entire 2019-20 season rehabbing his ACL injury, is one of Redick’s favorite players in the NBA.

Via Drew Shiller of NBC Sports Bay Area:

“He is one of my favorite current players, absolutely. Everything you said about him is so true,” JJ Redick said about Klay Thompson. “He’s a competitor, man. Low maintenance, ‘I’m gonna go out and bust your a– on both ends.’ He’s unbelievable.”

Everyone inside the Warriors organization can’t wait to see Thompson back on the floor next season with Stephen Curry. Since Golden State had the worst record in the NBA this season and most pundits believe the dynasty is over following the departure of Kevin Durant, Dubs execs and fans are expecting Curry and Thompson to tear up the league as their way of silencing the doubters.

During the 2018-19 regular season, Thompson averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Warriors. The five-time All-Star shot 46.7 percent from the field, 40.2 percent from beyond the arc and 81.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Dubs signed Thompson to a max contract extension last summer, so it never made sense for the sharpshooter to play in 2019-20, especially since ACL tears are very hard to come back from and Klay’s long term health is of vital importance.
