Kevin Durant has admitted a few times that the Draymond Green incident from last season was just one reason why he decided to leave the Golden State Warriors.

To recall, Green started calling Durant “a bi**h” during an overtime game between the Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center. Green, who questioned KD about his upcoming free agency, said the Dubs already won without him and dared the two-time Finals MVP to leave in the offseason — all while a game was still going on.

Durant went on the ALL THE SMOKE PODCAST with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson and talked about the incident:

“I just started isolating myself after that,” Durant said. “They suspended Draymond, but it was just like, they had to so it won’t look bad to everybody else. And then nobody talked to me about it…It happened in front of the whole team and nobody really talked about it.

“It was just swept under the rug. And to me, it was just like, we’re a family. Even if he said that, we could move past it. Let’s all talk about. Let’s just say how we all felt about that moment because that’s a huge moment in this whole dynasty. Don’t just sweep it under the rug because we want to win. That’s the reason why we’re not going to win… And when that didn’t happen, I was just like, ‘Fuck it. Let me just hoop and worry about myself’.”

Durant agreed to a four-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets. The Warriors were able to acquire D’Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade with the Nets, but the team traded him to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins on Thursday.

The words Green said to Durant were indeed too harsh, especially considering the Warriors were playing in a game against the Clippers.

Durant won't play this season for the Nets, while Green and the Warriors are on their way to missing the playoffs for the first time in the Steve Kerr era.
