The long wait is finally over for Klay Thompson. After a two-year absence, the Golden State Warriors star will make his return against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night.

The news that Warriors fans have been waiting for was reported by Shams Charania.

Warriors All-Star Klay Thompson is expected to return Sunday vs. Cleveland at Chase Center, sources tell me and Anthony Slater. Final clearance and announcement anticipated from Golden State and Thompson on Saturday.

Clear your schedule, folks. The evening is sure to be emotional for Warriors fans everywhere, and especially Klay Thompson himself. Klay hasn't played a minute on an NBA court since 2019 and for a basketball lifer, that's basically an eternity.

The Warriors have taken every precaution to ensure that Klay Thompson returns fully healthy. With no reason to rush him back given their place in the standings right now, they've pushed back his return weeks upon their original intending target in December.

The extended time has allowed Klay to get some additional run with Stephen Curry and Co. as he's set to return to his starting role right away.

With Klay Thompson back in the fold, the Golden State Warriors will arguably be the favorites to win yet another championship. Here's to hoping Klay Thompson stays healthy the rest of the way.
