Golden State Warriors point guard Ky Bowman will be out for the next few games with a lateral ankle sprain, the team announced on Saturday.

Bowman suffered the lateral sprain on his right ankle during the Warriors' 116-86 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers last Thurday. The sprain looked bad in the moment, as Bowman had to be helped back to the bench by his teammates in the waning moments of the blowout contest.

Bowman reportedly left the arena in a wheelchair that night.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also did not seem optimistic about the extent of the injury, said he expects Bowman to be “out a while.”

Ky Bowman joins a long list of Warriors on the injury report. Stephen Curry had long been expected to return to action on March 1, though that's now being pushed back until later in the month.

With Curry, Bowman and Jordan Poole all currently out, the Dubs will take on the Phoenix Suns on Saturday (and continue onward) without an active point guard on the roster. Draymond Green — who could take on some point guard duties — is also day-to-day with a knee injury and will not take the floor either against the Suns.

With everything that's happening, Kevon Looney will reportedly take some point guard duties for the Warriors.

Bowman, undrafted out of Boston College, earned a multi-year deal with Golden State earlier this month. He's averaging 7.4 points and 3.0 assists per game in 22.5 minutes.
